We knew it was coming, but now it's official: Rockstar has confirmed that a new Grand Theft Auto will be released.
Rockstar has confirmed that a new Grand Theft Auto is 'underway.'
"With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series," In the most recent Grand Theft Auto community update, the company stated.
"With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered—and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details."
The latest post, simply titled "Grand Theft Auto Community Update," covers a wide range of GTA news, including further details on how GTA Online will evolve on next-gen consoles and what to expect in the upcoming GTA V ports. It has a lot of potential, and the graphic changes are excellent.
The important news, though, was discovered all the way at the conclusion.
The next installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise is presently in development, according to Rockstar Games.
While Rockstar hasn't revealed many specifics about the game, I'm sure many people will be relieved to know it exists.
It's important to note that it's not certainly Grand Theft Auto 6 in name—a full, formal title has yet to be revealed—but given how Rockstar has titled the first five mainstream games in the series, I believe the trend will continue.
Whatever it's called, it'll be interesting to see how the tone of the game compares to earlier installments in the franchise: Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, one of the series' key creative drivers, left the studio in 2020.
Rockstar GTA 6 is in the works, and it's 'Significantly' more ambitious than its predecessor
There's no hint of a release date, though it's very likely that it'll be a long time coming.
Analysts projected in January that the next Grand Theft Auto game will be released sometime in Take-Two Interactive's fiscal year 2024, with a release date anywhere between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024.
If history repeats itself, PC gamers may be forced to wait even longer: The PC versions of Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5, as well as Red Dead Redemption 2, were released after the console versions: GTA4 took eight months to complete, whereas GTA5 and Red Dead 2 took almost a year.
At the very least, fans can stop speculating if the next Grand Theft Auto is in the works now that Rockstar has confirmed it.
Apart from that, I expect GTA 6 to remain popular online even if no new information is provided.
That's how today's SEO-driven online world operates.
