New Playstation Plus Subscriptions

Sony has announced the launch date and other details for the three new PlayStation Plus tiers that will be available in the United States beginning June 13th.

The new PlayStation Plus choices look a lot like Xbox Game Pass, which provides gamers access to a rotating assortment of games and gives new buyers a cheaper way to get started with a library of high-quality games right away.

It's also announced a comprehensive list of PS5 and PS4 games that will be available "in the launch timeframe," including big names like Spider-Man, The Last of Us Part II, and God of War, as well as its classic game roster (included below).

However, unlike Microsoft with Halo Infinite, Gears 5, and Forza Horizon 5, Sony has stated that it would not include fresh new first-party games in the subscription plan.

That means games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo 7 won't be on the list at first.

PlayStation Plus Essential costs $9.99 a month and, like the previous Plus membership, gives basic access to online services.

For $14.99 a month, Plus Extra includes everything in Plus Essential plus a portfolio of PS4 and PS5 games, whereas Plus Premium includes everything in Plus Essential plus an additional 340 games and the ability to stream PS3 titles from anywhere.

It also features the PlayStation Now benefits bundled with PlayStation Plus.

Ubisoft Plus is Coming to PlayStation Plus

Ubisoft's PlayStation subscription package, Ubisoft Plus Classics, will be packaged with the Plus Extra and Plus Premium membership tiers and will include 27 games at launch, according to Sony.

However, unlike the Ubisoft Plus membership, which is now available on PC, Stadia, and Luna (and will ultimately be accessible on Xbox), it will not cover day-one release titles.

PlayStation Premium customers will also have access to a selection of vintage games that will show improved frame rates and higher-quality resolution compared to their original launch versions, according to the company.

The games will also have an upgraded user interface that allows you to save and rewind the game at any time.

Outside of Plus customers, PlayStation emphasizes that you can download these new versions for free if you already purchased the digital version of titles from the original PlayStation and PSP generation.

Playstation Plus Free Trial Games

As part of its PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, PlayStation will also provide limited-time game trials.

These trials will last two hours, and your game save data will be transferred if you opt to buy the game.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk 2077, Farming Simulator 2022, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, and WWE 2K22 are among the six games that PlayStation is currently offering limited trials for.

We expect that list to grow in the future, based on a suggestion that Sony will compel new titles over a particular price point to include a demo in the program.

The service, like PlayStation's previous Plus membership, will offer a monthly selection of free titles to download and play.

All PlayStation Plus customers will receive a monthly refresh on the first Tuesday of each month, but Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will receive an additional refresh in the middle of the month.

PlayStation Plus will launch on June 13th in North and South America, May 24th in Asia, June 2nd in Japan, and June 23rd in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
