No Man's Sky Is Still Getting Massive Free Updates In 2022

No Man’s Sky update
No Man’s Sky

I'm not sure how to characterize what No Man's Sky has evolved into at this point, and the game's latest free update, Sentinel, is a fantastic example of why.

No Man’s Sky Gameplay

It overhauls combat and introduces new foes, among other changes, resulting in missions that resemble Mass Effect more than a calm space-faring simulator.

What about the mechs? You can now construct your own in the No Man’s Sky gameplay.

Sentinels are a mysterious army of battle drones that scour the galaxy for No Man's Sky players, and the latest free update, which went live today, provides them a major upgrade.

Heavy Combat Drones are a new form of Sentinel, as are new weaponry for them to use, such as long-range explosive mortars that scar the planet's surface.

Players will, however, get access to new capabilities like as mid-fight cloaking technologies and colorful upgrades to jetpacks.

No Man’s Sky Update

Here are a couple of more important additions in No Man’s Sky update
:

  • Create your own drone buddy
  • Upgrade your Sentinel to make it your own
  • Give your mech the ability to operate on its own
  • Sentinel Pillars have been added, obscuring details about their origins
  • Holographic energy shields serve as mobile cover
  • A new interplanetary quick travel system has been developed
  • During the constructing mode, multi-axis rotation is possible
  • Rapid-firing neutron cannon that can also charge up bursts
  • Players with high-end PCs will notice an increase in frame rate and image quality

I've only described half of what's in the Sentinel update, and it's already a lot of content, but what's even more amazing is that No Man's Sky is still getting free expansions like this even six years later.

No Man’s Sky Next Generation

Hello Games' ambitious survival game will continue to be one of the greatest live service success stories, in addition to being a perfect representative for the failure redemption arc.

The release of No Man's Sky for Nintendo Switch later this year will be the next step in that journey.

We'll see how it goes, but in the meanwhile, we'll have to wait to find out what Hello Games has in store for its significant 4.0 release of No Man’s Sky next generation
.
