Top 10 Best Playstation Exclusive Games

The Top 10 Best Playstation Exclusive Games are the games that identified Sony's console launches in the previous generation.

It's a long list, with titles ranging from God of War and Spider-Man to The Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Horizon Forbidden West (which premiered February 18 for PS5 and PS5) isn't on this list since we feel it's best enjoyed on the latest gear.

Despite the fact that several of these titles have since been released on PC, they are still PlayStation 5 exclusives.

Most of them are also playable on the PS5 via PS5 backwards compatibility, ensuring their legendary status.

Before we get started, here are the ground rules: our list of the top Playstation exclusives is based on platform exclusivity, thus some of them are also available on PC.

Exclusivity must be permanent, not temporary (so we had to remove Nier: Automata when it released on Xbox One).

Plus, the games must be full-price releases, not DLC or add-on material - though if we're lucky, they'll appear on the free PS Plus games list at some point, and if you're feeling frugal, there's always the greatest free Playstation games.

10. The Last of Us Remastered

Although The Last of Us was one of the finest PS3 games, it's difficult to make a list of the top PS4 exclusives without include this incredible remaster.

If you have a PS4 Pro, you'll not only receive the original The Last of Us game in magnificent 4K, but you'll also get a ton of new stuff.

The post-apocalyptic narrative from Naughty Dog remains one of the finest video game stories ever told.

So, if you haven't yet played Ellie and Joel's story, sit back (but not too far; this is a tense game with mutants), and immerse yourself in one of the finest games ever made.

9. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Although Nathan Drake has been the star of the Uncharted series since the first game on the PlayStation 3 in 2007, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is all about letting someone else take the lead.

Drake steps aside to make room for two female characters from the series, Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross, who are both past villains/double crossers.

The two ladies are a riveting double act who preserve the feisty, tongue-in-cheek antics that have become famous with the Uncharted franchise, but with a fresh spin on Sully and Drake's loud bromance.

Brilliant action sequences, top-notch puzzles, and a hint of the otherworldly combine to create this an Uncharted spin-off that may well be the beginning of a new Uncharted adventure.

8. Shadow of the Colossus

For years, Shadow of the Colossus was one of those games that everyone wished would be remade.

Then something occurred. This is the type of game that creates waves in the gaming industry, since it still seems as thought-provoking and creative as it did when it first came out on the PS2 13 years ago.

This is an authentic piece of gaming history that you owe it to yourself to see.

7. Ghost of Tsushima

You'll be grateful for every moment you spend in Ghost of Tsushima's gorgeous, rich, and surprisingly chill environment.

Sucker Punch's latest game combines an Assassin's Creed-style Japan with a Red Dead Redemption 2-sized setting and a full library of Akira Kurosawa films to create a moving ode to the Japanese culture.

This is a beautiful PS4 and PS5 farewell.

6. Bloodborne

The night is dark and full with terrors, most of which will murder you ruthlessly in seconds if you aren't attentive.

But it's a risk you'll have to take in order to explore and experience Bloodborne's beautiful gothic metropolis of Yharnam, which serves as the location for From Software's excellent spin-off that combines the studio's Dark Souls ideas.

This exquisite third-person action RPG chooses a faster tempo of play than traditional Souls, but not at the expense of the necessity for continual vigilance and awareness, lest you fall prey to a variety of terrifying monsters hiding around the Victorian-era surroundings.

As you claw your path from one spectacular boss battle or breathtaking scenery to the next, guided by the ghosts of former players, the multiple forms of each melee weapon, along with the careful timing of pistol-enabled parries, allows you even more flexibility to express your personal fighting style.

5. Marvel's Spider-Man

Spider-Man is an amazing blazing exclusive for PS4 and is easily the finest superhero game in recent years.

It looks amazing, is jam-packed with things to see and do, and is a joy to play.

It's a joy to just sit and play from the minute you take your first swing around NYC through the latter stages when you're combining mobility, fighting, and abilities.

The tale is engrossing, amusing, and occasionally surprising, and the presentation is slick as heck.

It catches the essence of both the books and the modern Marvel renditions of Spider-Man rather well.

If you want to try something new that will impress your friends and keep you playing for weeks on end, this is the game for you.

4. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, like all brilliant action films, understands when to blend spectacular set-pieces and thrilling car chases with gentler moments of human drama and warmth.

Nathan Drake is still a likeable newer Indiana Jones, going to hunt for treasure and eluding armed goons with aplomb, but watching him interact with his dear ones - Elena, Sully, and even his newly introduced brother Sam, all brought to life through fantastic mocapped performances - is far more satisfying than discovering any ancient secret.

Uncharted 4 is a suitable conclusion to Nathan's narrative, and playing it feels like finishing the final chapter of a great adventure novel that has left an unforgettable stamp on your heart.

3. The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian stays true to the same high level as Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, despite years of waiting and worrying if it would ever see the light of day.

You play as a little kid stranded among ancient ruins who befriends a colossal bird/dog hybrid named Trico as the two of you make their way to freedom.

Trico's unique, at times defiant AI makes him feel like a really alive creature that you must persuade and collaborate with to complete a variety of third-person puzzles, forming a love between player and animal akin to that of a real-life pet.

2. Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn

We've seen far too many lonely, lifeless post-apocalyptic wastelands in video games, to the point that they've become as depressing as the collapsing worlds they depict.

Horizon Zero Dawn, on the other hand, dares to go far beyond the fall of modern society to show us a new chapter in humanity's history, in which primitive tribes have slowly begun to rebuild among distinct species of sentient, artificial creatures that wander and control the now-verdant ruins of cities.

You play as Aloy, an instantly appealing protagonist who is a capable and brave hunter in this far-future frontier, as you discover Horizon's enormous, fascinating open world.

1. God of War

God of War

That's right, it's that fantastic. The finest game you can play on PS4 is the newest God of War, which effectively reboots the brand and places it in a whole new environment.

And that's something we'll probably be repeating until the PS5 arrives.

Instead of the conventional action framework of the first two games, this installment allows you to explore a fully realized, absolutely gorgeous Norse world while selecting fights and solving riddles.

The plot is well-written and well-paced, and Kratos has evolved into far more than a one-dimensional murderer.

Enemies are well-designed as well, and combat is as smooth and entertaining as it has always been.

There's a lot to see and do, and each new section is more impressive and crammed with features than the last.

Only Horizon comes close to demonstrating the PlayStation's strength and adaptability in the same manner, making God of War a must-have for anybody with a Dualshock and a desire for something new.
